Additional Announcements

January 10, 2006

1.    Saturday morning COG meetings: These are usually held the 2nd Saturday of each month. Council Members take turns attending. Council Member Jergensen has agreed to attend January’s and Council Member Christensen selected June. Months needing coverage are: February, March, April, and May. Are there any months that work better for any Council Member?  Councilmember Simonsen volunteered to attend all of the meetings.

2.    Staff would like to schedule a follow-up meeting with Planning Staff and interested Council Members to discuss Private Streets policy. Is anyone interested?  Council Members Saxton and Christensen were interested.

3.    Open Lands Board Consulting Assistance: The Open Space Lands Board has been working to develop evaluation criteria to consider for funding requests that the Board received throughout the summer and fall.  They have now completed a majority of their work on the criteria.  They have expressed a desire to have someone with expertise in this area review their work and provide feedback on any thing that may have been missed or changes that may be helpful.  However, resources available to the Board are severely limited.

Rick Reese has indicated that Marty Zeller (the consultant that advised the Council on the ordinance) would be available for a one day process with the Board similar to the assistance he provided to the Council.

Because this has been an important issue to the Council, would Council Members want to consider allocating some funds from the study money to bring a consultant in to provide some assistance to the Board?  (estimated cost would be in the range of $2,000 - $4,000 including travel and lodging.)  All Council Members were in favor of providing assistance to the Board.

4.    Human Rights Day Holiday: The City offices will be closed on Monday, January 16 in observation of this holiday.  Ms. Gust-Jenson said the street name could be changed on February 7th to Rosa Parks Boulevard.  All Council Members were in favor.
