A.    Decisions, Feedback & Information needed by staff

 

1.    PROPERTY CONVEYANCES:  Do Council Members wish to hold a hearing on any of the conveyances listed below?

A.    Attached is a lease agreement for a conduit located at GE OEC Medical Systems, Inc in the International Center.  The agreement will cover a 1500 foot subsurface encroachment along Wright Brothers Drive in the bermed area of the right-of –way.  The conduit will connect the GE/OEC Medical Facilities.  There will be no street cuts required.  Compensation tendered is $350 annual payment with CPI increases.

 

B.    The attached agreement is for a 30-foot centerline easement to run a new distribution line from an existing UP&L facility to a new substation located at the VA Hospital (Sunnyside Park). This line is required to maintain the increasing load factor and to provide a greater power reliability to the hospital. The distribution line will be buried and runs parallel on the east side of an existing roadway.  Compensation tendered is approximately $20,000 one time payment.

 

C.    The attached agreement is a telecommunications right- of- way lease with Global Crossing North American Networks, Inc.   There is approximately 3900 linear feet of fiber optics to be constructed in this agreement.  Only 30 linear feet will be constructed between existing manholes.  The other lengths will be pulled through existing conduits.  All work should be easily completed during after-hours construction.  There will be minor disruption of traffic during these hours.  Compensation tendered is $3,600 annual payment plus annual CPI adjustments.

 

A: ALL COUNCIL MEMBERS WERE IN FAVOR OF NOT HAVING  PUBLIC HEARINGS FOR THESE THREE ISSUES.

 

2.    NLC CONFERENCE:  Council Chair Carlton Christensen, Council Member Nancy Saxton, and Council Member Dave Buhler will be attending the NLC Conference in December, leaving four Council Members available for the Council Work Session on Thursday, December 7, 2000.  Would the Council prefer to cancel the Thursday Work Session?

 

A: ALL COUNCIL MEMBERS WERE IN FAVOR OF CANCELING THE DECEMBER 7,  2000 WORK SESSION.

 

3.    HOUSING AUTHORITY BOARD: John Pace filled a vacancy on the Housing Authority and has served as a member since March 21, 2000.  His term expires October 27, 2000.  The Administration asked if the Council would like to re-interview John Pace for his reappointment to the Housing Authority for a 5-year term.

 

A: ALL COUNCIL MEMBERS WERE IN FAVOR OF NOT INTERVIEWING JOHN PACE.

 

 

4.    ROSE PARK LIONS CLUB: Council Member Carlton Christensen recently attended the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Rose Park Lions Club.  In recognition for all they have done for the community, he would like to honor the group with a resolution from the City Council.  Would the Council be willing to support a resolution recognizing the efforts of this organization on behalf of the community?

 

A: ALL COUNCIL MEMBERS WERE IN FAVOR OF HONORING THE LIONS CLUB WITH A RESOLUTION.
