A. Information Needed by Council Staff
1. The County has provided the overall schedule for truth-in-taxation hearings, and our hearing date CONFLICTS with NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME.
Each year Council Staff sends a letter to the County requesting a specific night for the City’s truth in taxation hearing (in case it is needed). Apparently the County Auditor’s office did not receive this request this year, and scheduled all truth in tax hearings for Cities and Towns on August 3rd. Jennifer has confirmed that our letter was indeed sent, and has tried everything possible to get the County to allow us to hold the City hearing on a regular Council night, but there is just not a way to do it and comply with State law.
The other Tuesday’s in August are already scheduled for the School District and County, and because these are overlapping taxing districts, the City is prohibited by state law from having ours on those nights (regardless of time of day).
Therefore there are a few other dates in August that the Council could choose to have a special meeting for the truth in taxation hearing:
Wednesday August 4th
Wednesday August 11th
Thursday August 12th
Monday August 16th
The City is required by law to have this type of hearing after 6pm. Staff will need to prepare the notice for the hearing prior to June 22nd.
How would the Council like to proceed? All Council Members were in favor of Wednesday, August 4th at 6:00 p.m.

A. Information Needed by Council Staff
1. The next Council policy discussion is scheduled for Tuesday, June 26th at 3:00 p.m. Council Member Garrott will be out of town that day.
Would the Council like to cancel the June meeting or reschedule? Ms. Gust-Jenson asked the Council to be thinking about when they wanted to schedule the next policy discussion. It was decided to hold the discussion on July 30th.
