Resolution No. 29 of 2015

 

Joint Resolution Proclaiming October 9, 2015 West High Day in Salt Lake City

 

Whereas,    West High School, founded in 1890, is the oldest high school in the State of Utah; and

Whereas,    the 2015-2016 school year marks the 125th academic year for West High School; and

Whereas,    West High School, to date, has successfully graduated over 50,000 students; and

WHEREAS,    West High School teams and clubs have won numerous championships; and

Whereas,    West High School was the first Utah High School to offer Extended Learning, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate programs; and

WHEREAS,    West High School scholars have contributed to local, state, national, and international improvements; and

Whereas,    the West High Alumni Association is the only high school alumni association in the State of Utah, and has provided over $1 million in scholarships to West High Students in need; and

Whereas,    October 09, 2015 marks West High School’s 125th Homecoming celebration.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED

         that the Salt Lake City Council and Mayor of Salt Lake City do hereby proclaim Friday, October 9, 2015 West High Day in Salt Lake City and acknowledge the contributions of West High School.
