Resolution No. 24 of 2018

 

Authorizing the Approval of an

Amendment No. 1 to Metropolitan Narcotics Task Force

Agreement

 

WHEREAS, Title 11, Chapter 13, Utah Code Ann., 1953, allows public entities to enter into cooperative agreements to provide joint undertakings and services; and

WHEREAS, Salt Lake City Corporation (“Salt Lake City”), the Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake (“UPD”), the Drug Enforcement Administration (“DEA”), the Utah Department of Public Safety (“DPS”), West Valley City, Murray City, Sandy City, West Jordan City, South Jordan City, the Utah Department of Corrections, Summit County Sheriff Office, and Cottonwood Heights City are members of the Metropolitan Narcotics Task Force (“MNTF”), which was established by a previous interlocal agreement among the members; and

WHEREAS, the MNTF members seek to amend the current MNTF Interlocal Agreement to clarify task force participation; replace Murray City with Salt Lake City as the Host Funding Agency; add clarifying language that the MNTF will comply with federal successor guidelines or audit requirements; add language that clarifies the source of payments and increases federal grant funds that can be used to pay for administrative costs; add language that ensures that any disbandment of the MNTF will comply with applicable laws, regulations, and policies; make minor typographical and clarifying edits; and

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, as follows:

1.     It does hereby approve the execution and delivery of the following:

Amendment No. 1 to Metropolitan Narcotics Task Force Agreement

2.     The effective date of the agreement shall be the date it is signed and recorded (where applicable) by all parties to the agreement.

3.     Jackie Biskupski, Mayor of Salt Lake City, Utah, or her designee, is hereby authorized to approve said agreements on behalf of Salt Lake City Corporation, subject to such minor changes that do not materially affect the rights and obligations of the City thereunder and as shall be approved by the Mayor, her execution thereof to constitute conclusive evidence of such approval.
