RESOLUTION No. 22 of 2015

(Appointing Poll Workers for the 2015 Salt Lake City

Municipal primary and general elections)

 

      WHEREAS, Utah Code Section 20A-5-602 requires that at least 15 days before the date of a local election, the municipal legislative body appoint:

1. For each precinct, four individuals who reside within Salt Lake County to serve as poll workers:

(a)      each of whom is a registered voter; or

(b)      (i) the first of whom is a registered voter and is at least 21 years of age; (ii) the second of whom is 16 or 17 years of age; and (iii) each of the rest of whom is a  registered voter; and

2. At least one registered voter who resides within Salt Lake County to serve as canvassing judge, if necessary; and

3. As many alternate poll workers as needed to replace appointed poll workers who are unable to serve; and

WHEREAS, the Council desires to comply with said statutory mandate and to appoint poll workers as required by law for the 2015 municipal primary and general elections that are scheduled to be held more than 15 days from the current date; and this Council has determined that a canvassing judge is not necessary in this instance;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, that those persons whose names are set forth on Exhibit “A” attached hereto are hereby appointed to serve as poll workers during the 2015 Salt Lake City municipal primary and general elections.  Each of those persons is a registered voter.  Exhibit “A,” which was prepared by or under the direction of the City Recorder, may be changed as needed without further Council action, and is made a part thereof by this reference.  Exhibit “A” shall be made available for inspection, examination, and copying during business hours at the office of the City Recorder.
