SALT LAKE CITY CORPORATION

RESOLUTION 10 OF 2018

 

 JOINT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING
THE LOWELL BENNION COMMUNITY SERVICE CENTER
FOR 30 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY

 

WHEREAS,      The Lowell Bennion Community Service Center was founded in 1987 and is the second oldest collegiate community service center in the United States; and

 

WHEREAS,      The Bennion Center models itself on the life of its namesake, Lowell Bennion, who respected all people, believed in social and economic justice for all; and

 

WHEREAS,      more than 160,000 students participated in Bennion Center service projects over the past 30 years; and

 

WHEREAS,      since its founding, nearly 3.5 million hours of service have been donated to the community; and

 

WHEREAS,      Bennion Center students design, implement and manage service programs to benefit the community and build leadership skills; and

 

WHEREAS,      Bennion Center projects are designed to serve identified community needs, most of which serve the elderly, youth and special populations.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED

                                that the Salt Lake City Council and Mayor of Salt Lake City congratulate and thank the Lowell Bennion Community Service Center for 30 years of dedicated service to the communities of Salt Lake City.
