SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE
No. 16 of 2015
(An ordinance adopting design guidelines for historic apartment
and multifamily buildings within the H Historic Preservation Overlay District)
An ordinance adopting design guidelines for historic apartment and multifamily buildings within the H Historic Preservation Overlay District pursuant to Petition No. PLNPCM2012-00870.
WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Historic Landmark Commission held a public hearing on April 3, 2014 on a petition initiated by Mayor Ralph Becker (Petition No. PLNPCM2012-00870) to adopt new residential design guidelines applicable to historic apartment and multifamily buildings within the H Historic Preservation Overlay District; and
WHEREAS, at its April 3, 2014 meeting, the historic landmark commission voted in favor of forwarding a positive recommendation to the Salt Lake City Planning Commission on said petition; and
WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Planning Commission held public hearings on May 28, 2014 and June 11, 2014 on said petition; and
WHEREAS, at its June 11, 2014 meeting, the planning commission voted in favor of forwarding a positive recommendation to the city council on said petition; and
WHEREAS, after a public hearing on this matter the city council has determined that adopting this ordinance is in the city’s best interests.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. Adopting Design Guidelines for Historic Apartment and Multifamily Buildings. That the document titled “Design Guidelines for Historic Apartments & Multifamily Buildings in Salt Lake City”, which document is attached hereto as Exhibit “A”, is hereby adopted to provide guidelines to assist design choices in land use development activities for apartment and multifamily buildings within the H-Historic Preservation Overlay District in accordance with the regulations provided in section 21A.34.020 of the Salt Lake City Code. SECTION 2.
Effective Date. This ordinance shall become effective on the date of its first publication.
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, this 7th day of April, 2015.
