The City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, met in an electronic Special Limited Formal Session on Thursday, July 2, 2020 pursuant to Salt Lake City Emergency Proclamation No. 2 of 2020 (2)(b).

 

     The following Council Members participated electronically:

     The following Councilmember was absent:

Cindy Gust-Jenson, Council Executive Director; Jennifer Bruno, Council Executive Deputy Director; Erin Mendenhall, Mayor; Rachel Otto, Mayor’s Chief of Staff; Katherine Lewis, City Attorney; and Scott Crandall, Deputy City Recorder participated electronically.

 

     Councilmember Wharton presided at and conducted the meeting.

 

The meeting was called to order at 2:08 p.m.

 

OPENING CEREMONY

NEW BUSINESS

 

     #1.  2:10:54 PM Adopting a resolution extending the Mayor’s March 18 proclamation declaring a local emergency relating to a magnitude 5.7 earthquake. The Council’s most recent extension of the local emergency relating to COVID-19 terminates June 6, 2020 and the proposed extension would be until July 10, 2020. View Attachment

 

Councilmember Johnston moved and Councilmember Rogers seconded to adopt Resolution 20 of 2020, extending the proclamation declaring a local emergency relating to a magnitude 5.7 earthquake until October 9, 2020, which motion carried, all members present voted aye (roll call).

     Councilmember Johnston asked for clarification regarding the October 9th date. Ms. Gust-Jenson said this related to opportunities for federal benefits and a date was needed for the Council to preserve options. She said the date could be changed or withdrawn at the Council’s discretion.

 

The meeting adjourned at 2:15 p.m.
