PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH

THURSDAY, AUGUST 5, 1982

 

THE CITY COUNCIL OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, MET AS A COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 5, 1982, AT 6:45 P.M. IN ROOM 211 CITY AND COUNTY BUILDING.

 

ON ROLL CALL THE FOLLOWING COUNCIL MEMBERS WERE PRESENT: RONALD J. WHITEHEAD ALICE SHEARER GRANT MABEY IONE M. DAVIS SYDNEY R. FONNESBECK EDWARD W. PARKER PALMER DEPAULIS.

 

Council Chairperson Sydney R. Fonnesbeck presided at and conducted this meeting.

 

COUNCIL BUSINESS

 

The Council met with Cheryl Cook about her appointment as City Treasurer. Mrs. Cook explained her priorities for the position, which include drafting a comprehensive policy for the city’s money management and insuring that city funds are invested in accordance with the Utah Money Management Act.

 

Councilmember Shearer moved and Councilmember Parker seconded to place on the consent agenda for August 10, 1982 the appointment of Cheryl D. Cook, which motion carried, all members voting aye.

Ed Blaney from Wasatch Front Council of Governments addressed the Council on the request for $13,600 for planning studies. Mr. Blaney discussed the studies, what they would be for and who would benefit from the studies.

 

Councilmember Davis moved and Councilmember Shearer seconded to place this item on the consent agenda for August 10, 1982, which motion carried, all members voting aye.

Items relating to the Art Space request for Administrative expenses were discussed. Steve Goldsmith explained what the monies would be used for in the upcoming year. Mr. Goldsmith indicated that no additional administrative expenses would be requested for this grant.

 

Councilmember Parker moved and Councilmember Mabey seconded to place this item on the consent agenda for August 10, 1982, which motion carried, all members voting aye.

Max Peterson briefed the Council on the sidewalk replacement program and the need for a change in the ordinance. Public hearing on the ordinance is scheduled for August 10, 1982.
