F.  Truth in Taxation (Attachment 1)

Is the Council ok with the attached letter, which reserves the night of August 12th, 2014 for a potential truth-in-taxation meeting, should the Council need one.

 

Cindy Gust-Jenson said if there was a truth-in-taxation meeting, it would be on August 12, 2014.  She said she wanted to ensure council members had that day reserved.  Councilmember LaMalfa wanted to know if there was a formal meeting scheduled on that day.  Ms. Gust-Jenson said yes.

B.  Resolution Supporting State Fair Park

 

Support of the State Fair Park—Proposed Resolution.  Council Member LaMalfa is advancing a proposed resolution, at the request of Representative Jen Seelig and Utah State Fair Park Executive Director Michael J. Steele, to honor and support the State Fair Park for its history and place in the community.

 

Ø Does the Council support a joint-resolution with the Mayor?

 

There was no disagreement to the suggestion that council staff will create a rough draft and pay particular attention to consulting with Council Members LaMalfa and Rogers. 

 

C.  Council Generated Petitions needing Sponsors

 

    A-Frame Sign Regulations Clarifications

The Salt Lake City Council is requesting the City change the zoning regulations to modify the size of allowed A-Frame signs to comply with typical manufacturing dimensions of these types of signs.

 

Councilmember Penfold agreed to sponsor the A-Frame Sign issue.

    Projecting Signs Zoning Text Amendment

The Salt Lake City Council is requesting a change to the sign regulations in the Sugar House Business Districts (CSHBD1 and CSHBD2) to allow individual storefronts to have projecting signs.

 

Councilmember Adams agreed to sponsor the Projecting Signs Zoning Text Amendment issue.

 

 

Other Item – Legislative sub committee:

 

Ms. Gust-Jenson said she will have questions for Council to make a determination in clarifying the role of the Legislative sub-committee. 

 

Councilmember Luke said Council will wait until the report was received to make any determinations on making changes or adding.
