City Council Announcements

October 16, 2007

A. Information Needed by Council Staff

1.  E-mail from Lyn Creswell outlining a potential action/ordinance to create an advisory committee to oversee Public Safety Facilities.  Ms. Gust-Jenson said if the bonds were approved by voters, Mr. Creswell was recommending putting a committee in place through an ordinance or a less formal document.  She said he wanted to get the Council’s feedback on this issue because the Chamber of Commerce was asking for more information or some show of commitment on the City’s part.  Discussion was held about the request.  Ms. Gust-Jenson said in summary, she thought there was support for a committee that included community business members, uncertainty whether this should be done by ordinance or some other means and no action taken until after we find out the results of the election.  Was the Council ok with allowing Lyn to assure the Chamber that the Council would be supportive of moving forward.  Ms. Gust-Jenson said community representation on the board was another piece of feedback that was need.   The majority of the Council was in favor.
