City Council Announcements

 

A. Decisions, Feedback & Information needed by staff

 

1. The Utah League of Cities & Towns will hold its annual luncheon with Utah legislators and youth councils on January 19 from noon to 1:45 p.m. at the Salt Lake Sheraton Hotel, 150 West 500 South. The luncheon is part of Local Officials Legislative Day. The luncheon will feature a presentation titled “What Now?” by Governor Jon Huntsman, Senate President John Valentine, and House Speaker Greg Curtis. Council Members may wish to arrive early because past luncheons have filled rapidly with local elected officials and high school student delegations.  Please RSVP to Mary.

A. Decisions, Feedback & Information needed by staff

 

1.    Salt Lake Chamber and the Convention & Visitors Bureau are hosting an Update Breakfast on legislative issues affecting the tourism industry, including state tourism funding and funding for the expansion of the Salt Palace and South Towne Expo Center. The breakfast is scheduled for next Tuesday, January 18 at 7:30 a.m. in Room 250 of the Salt Palace. The cost is $16 in advance or $20 at the door. Council Member Christensen has already confirmed he plans to attend, and Council Members Lambert and Love will not be able to attend.

2.    NAACP Salt Lake Branch annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Luncheon.  January 17, 12:00 noon, Little America Hotel, $50 per person. RSVP by January 12. Council Member Christensen is attending and Council Member Saxton may attend. Is anyone else interested in attending?

3.    The meeting with Congressman Rob Bishop has been confirmed for Tuesday, January 18 at 4:00 p.m. in the Council Offices. Please let Lehua or Russell know who is planning on attending
