SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE

No. 70 of 2001

(Authorizing One Over-Sized Temporary Sign Related to Large-scale Special Events of National or International Significance)

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 3.52.050 OF THE SALT LAKE CITY CODE, AUTHORIZING ONE OVER-SIZED TEMPORARY SIGN RELATED TO LARGE-SCALE SPECIAL EVENTS OF NATIONAL OR INTERNATIONAL SIGNIFICANCE.

Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:

SECTION 1.  That Section 3.52.050.D.1, of the Salt Lake City Code, shall be, and the same hereby is, enacted to read as follows:

D.  Approved Temporary Uses which do not Comply with Applicable Zoning.  The following temporary uses related to large scale special events may be approved by the Mayor, in any non-residential zoning district, notwithstanding the fact that such uses may not comply with the land use limitations applicable in the districts in which they are located, if the Mayor finds that there is good cause for such temporary uses and that the temporary uses would be in the best interest of the City:

1.    One over-sized temporary sign containing the symbol or logo of the large scale special event.

SECTION 2.  CONDITIONS.  This ordinance is conditioned upon the following:

      a.    Construction of the sign in accordance with the plans on file with the City; and

      b.    Execution of an agreement, in a form acceptable to the City, providing for the removal of the sign and reclamation of the property after the large scale special event.

SECTION 3.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This ordinance shall take effect on the date of its first publication.  The City Recorder is instructed not to record or publish this ordinance until the conditions identified herein have been satisfied, as certified by the Salt Lake City Property Manager.
