SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE

No. 58 of 2002

(Enacting the Library Block 37

Master Plan)

 

      AN ORDINANCE ENACTING THE LIBRARY BLOCK 37 MASTER PLAN, AS AN AMENDMENT TO THE EAST DOWNTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN AND THE CENTRAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN, PURSUANT TO PETITION NO. 400-00-44 AND SECTION 10-9-303, UTAH CODE ANN.

      WHEREAS, the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, has held public hearings before its own body and before the Planning Commission as required by Section 10-9-303, Utah Code Ann.; and

      WHEREAS, the City had previously adopted the East Downtown Neighborhood Plan and the Central Community Development Plan, both of which include Block 37; and

WHEREAS, due to the relocation of the state courts and the anticipated relocation of other government functions which are currently located on Block 37, the City anticipates the construction of a new library and the redevelopment of substantially all of Block 37; and

      WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is appropriate under Section 10-9-301, et seq., Utah Code Ann., and in the best interest of the City, to enact a master plan for the redevelopment of Block 37;

      NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:

      SECTION 1. That the Library Block 37 Master Plan, recommended for adoption by the Salt Lake City Planning Commission on August 17, 2000, shall be and hereby is enacted as an amendment to the East Downtown Neighborhood Plan and the Central Community Development Plan, pursuant to Section 10-9-303, Utah Code Ann., for the City block located between 200 and 300 East and between 400 and 500 South. The City Recorder is hereby directed to retain three certified copies of the Library Block 37 Master Plan, as it pertains to this geographic area, for the public records.

      SECTION 2. Effective Date.  This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its first publication and shall be recorded with the Salt Lake County Recorder.
