SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE
No. 48 of 2001
(Amending Sections 17.16.670 and 17.16.680 of the Salt Lake City Code,
relating to water rates)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 17.16.670 AND 17.16.680, SALT LAKE CITY CODE, RELATING TO WATER RATES.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. Table 17.16.670 of Section 17.670 of the Salt Lake City Code is hereby amended in its entirety to read as follows for the effective dates July, 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002; July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003; July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004; July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005, and July 1, 2005 and thereafter until further amended, as indicated:
17.16.670 Minimum Charges:
The minimum charge for the first five hundred (500) cubic feet of water used each month through each service connection shall be based on meter size used, as set out in Table 17.16.670 of this Section. The minimum charge for meters larger than ten inches (10") shall be based proportionately on meter capacity, as determined by the Public Utilities Director. After the first five hundred (500) cubic feet of water is delivered through the meter each month, charges for additional water shall be controlled by Section 17.16.680 of this Article, or its successor.

17.16.680 Meter Rates
[Effective July 1, 2000, through June 30, 2001]
The rates for water supplied through meters to all places, after the minimum charges for the first five hundred (500) cubic feet of water specified in Section 17.16.670 of this Article, or its successor, will be as follows:
A. Inside the corporate limits of the City, fifty five cents ($0.55) per one hundred (100) cubic feet of water served through each service connection during the months of October through May, and eighty three cents ($0.83) per one hundred (100) cubic feet of water served through each service connection during the months of June through September.
B. Outside the corporate limits of the City, eighty one cents ($0.81) per one hundred (100) cubic feet of water served through each service connection during the months of October through May, and one dollar twenty five cents ($1.25) per hundred cubic feet of water served through each service connection during the months of June through September.
C. Rate payers which are granted an abatement for taxes on their dwelling under sections 59-2-1106 through 59-2-1108, Utah Code Annotated, or successor provisions, shall be granted a three dollar seventy eight cent ($3.78) abatement of the minimum monthly charge under Section 17.16.670 of this Article or its successor.
[Effective July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002]
The rates for water supplied through meters to all places, after the minimum charges for the first five hundred (500) cubic feet of water specified in Section 17.16.670 of this Article, or its successor, will be as follows:
A. Inside the corporate limits of the city, fifty-nine cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of October through May, and eighty-nine cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of June through September.
B. Outside the corporate limits of the City, eighty-seven cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of October through May, and one dollar thirty-four cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of June through September.
C. Rate payers which are granted an abatement for taxes on their dwelling under Sections 59-2-1106 through 59-2-1108, Utah Code Annotated, or successor provisions, shall be granted a four dollar four cent ($4.04) abatement of the minimum monthly charge under Section 17.16.670 of this Article or its successor.
Effective July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003
The rates for water supplied through meters to all places, after the minimum charges for the first five hundred (500) cubic feet of water specified in Section 17.16.670 of this Article, or its successor, will be as follows:
A. Inside the corporate limits of the city, sixty-one cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of October through May, and ninety-three cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of June through September.
B. Outside the corporate limits of the City, ninety cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of October through May, and one dollar thirty-nine cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of June through September.
C. Rate payers which are granted an abatement for taxes on their dwelling under Sections 59-2-1106 through 59-2-1108, Utah Code Annotated, or successor provisions, shall be granted a four dollar twenty cent ($4.20) abatement of the minimum monthly charge under Section 17.16.670 of this Article or its successor.
Effective July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004
The rates for water supplied through meters to all places, after the minimum charges for the first five hundred (500) cubic feet of water specified in Section 17.16.670 of this Article, or its successor, will be as follows:
A. Inside the corporate limits of the city, sixty-three cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of October through May, and ninety-six cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of June through September.
B. Outside the corporate limits of the City, ninety-three cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of October through May, and one dollar forty-three cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of June through September.
C. Rate payers which are granted an abatement for taxes on their dwelling under Sections 59-2-1106 through 59-2-1108, Utah Code Annotated, or successor provisions, shall be granted a four dollar thirty-three cent ($4.33) abatement of the minimum monthly charge under Section 17.16.670 of this Article or its successor.
Effective July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005
The rates for water supplied through meters to all places, after the minimum charges for the first five hundred (500) cubic feet of water specified in Section 17.16.670 of this Article, or its successor, will be as follows:
A. Inside the corporate limits of the city, sixty-five cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of October through May, and ninety-nine cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of June through September.
B. Outside the corporate limits of the City, ninety-six cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of October through May, and one dollar forty-seven cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of June through September.
C. Rate payers which are granted an abatement for taxes on their dwelling under Sections 59-2-1106 through 59-2-1108, Utah Code Annotated, or successor provisions, shall be granted a four dollar forty-six cent ($4.46) abatement of the minimum monthly charge under Section 17.16.670 of this Article or its successor.
Effective July 1, 2005 thereafter until further amended
The rates for water supplied through meters to all places, after the minimum charges for the first five hundred (500) cubic feet of water specified in Section 17.16.670 of this Article, or its successor, will be as follows:
A. Inside the corporate limits of the city, sixty-seven cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of October through May, and one dollar two cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of June through September.
B. Outside the corporate limits of the City, ninety-nine cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of October through May, and one dollar fifty-one cents per one hundred cubic feet of water billed during the months of June through September.
C. Rate payers which are granted an abatement for taxes on their dwelling under Sections 59-2-1106 through 59-2-1108, Utah Code Annotated, or successor provisions, shall be granted a four dollar fifty-nine cent ($4.59) abatement of the minimum monthly charge under Section 17.16.670 of this Article or its successor.
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its first publication.
