SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE

No. 43 of 2004

(Amending Plumbing Permit Fees)

      AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 18.56.040, SALT LAKE CITY CODE, RELATING TO PLUMBING PERMIT FEES.

      Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:

      SECTION 1. That Section 18.56.040, Salt Lake City Code, pertaining to plumbing permit fees be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows:

18.56.040  Plumbing permit fees.

A.    Before a permit shall be valid, permit fees shall be paid to the city treasurer as follows: The basic fee for each permit requiring inspection is: $35.00. In addition, the fee for each individual specialty item is:

1. For each plumbing fixture or trap roughed-in for installation or relocation      $4.80

2. Change, alteration or replacement of soil, waste or vent pipe  4.80

3. Each roof drain installed inside building    4.80

4. Each refrigeration drain and each safe drain discharged direct or indirect into the building drain    4.80

5. Each water softener or conditioning device   9.60

6. Each water heater    9.60

7. Each settling tank or grease trap      12.00

8. Each roof drain      4.80

9. Each store, restaurant or home appliance or device connected to the culinary water supply and/or building drainage system    4.80

10. Each vacuum breaker or backflow device on tanks, etc.   6.00

11. Each air-conditioning device discharging into the building drainage system      6.00

12. For each lawn-sprinkler control valve on devices  6.00

13. Each medical gas piping   12.00

14. Each grey water system          12.00

15. Each soda fountain carbonator   9.60

16. Each change or repair of a DWV (drain, waste and vent) system 7.20

B.    Fees for fire-extinguishing systems shall be paid to the city treasurer as follows:

1. Underground piping   $15.60

2. For hydrants on private property, each 9.60

3. For dry standpipe, each    12.00

plus each outlet    2.40

4. For wet standpipe, each    12.00

plus each hose cabinet  1.80

5. Automatic fire sprinklers in range hood or vent    4.80

6. For fire sprinkler systems of 1 to 100 sprinkler heads                 30.00

7. For fire sprinkler systems exceeding 100 sprinkler heads         30.00

plus each sprinkler head in excess of 100 heads                        0.12

8. For water service and distributing piping    7.20

9. For each water storage tank      12.00

10. For each fire pump  36.00

11. For each sewage ejection pump   12.00

12. For each tamper valve     $6.00

13. For each flow switch      $6.00

14. For each hood extinguishing system    $30.00

      SECTION 2.  This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon the date of its first publication.
