      The City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, met in Regular Session on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 7:21 p.m. in Room 315, City Council Chambers, City County Building, 451 South State.

 

      The following Council Members were present:

 

Carlton Christensen           Van Turner  Søren Simonsen

Jill Remington Love           JT Martin   Luke Garrott

 

      The following Councilmember was excused:  Eric Jergensen

 

Cindy Gust-Jenson, Executive Council Director; Edwin Rutan, City Attorney; David Everitt, Mayor’s Chief of Staff; and Christine Meeker, City Recorder were present.

 

      Councilmember Love presided at and conducted the meeting.

 

7:21:45 PM OPENING CEREMONY

 

      #1.   7:21:56 PM The Council led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

#2.   7:22:17 PM Councilmember Turner moved and Councilmember Simonsen seconded to approve the minutes of the Salt Lake City Council meeting held October 14, 2008, which motion carried, all members voted aye.

7:23:50 PM QUESTIONS TO THE MAYOR

 

      Councilmember Garrott complimented the Mayor for meeting with the Community Councils.

 

7:26:34 PM COMMENTS TO THE CITY COUNCIL

 

      Troop 17 from Liberty Stake was introduced.

     

      Daniel James said selective enforcement in the Avenues was taking place.  He said tickets were being issued on “B” Street.

 

Councilmember Martin asked how the Performing Arts Center was received by the community.  Mr. Everett said finances still needed to be worked on.

 

7:28:27 PM CONSENT AGENDA 

 

Councilmember Simonsen moved and Councilmember Christensen seconded to approve the Consent Agenda, which motion carried, all members voted aye. 

 

#1.   RE:   Approving the appointment of John Pace to the Community Development and Capitol Improvement Programs Advisory Board for a term extending through June 6, 2009.
