PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 1985

 

THE CITY COUNCIL OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, MET ON MONDAY NOVEMBER 18, 1985, AT 12:00 NOON IN ROOM 301 CITY AND COUNTY BUILDING FOR THE OATH OF OFFICE CEREMONY.

 

THE FOLLOWING COUNCIL MEMBERS WERE PRESENT: GRANT MABEY THOMAS M. GODFREY SYDNEY R. FONNESBECK ROSELYN N. KIRK EARL F. HARDWICK EDWARD W. PARKER.

 

Councilmember Whitehead was absent.

 

Mayor Palmer DePaulis, Albert Haines, chief administrative officer, Roger Cutler, city attorney, Kathryn Marshall, city recorder, and Lynda Domino, chief deputy recorder, were present.

 

Council Chairperson Fonnesbeck presided at and conducted the meeting. She recognized the presence of many dignitaries attending the ceremony.

 

The Girl Scouts, Troop No. 872, presented the colors and led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. The Reverend France Davis, Calvary Baptist Church, gave the invocation.

 

Kathryn Marshall, city recorder, administered the Oath of Office to Thomas M. Godfrey, Council District Five, Roselyn N. Kirk, Council District Six, and Palmer A. DePaulis, Mayor.

 

Councilmember Godfrey said that his future course was to honestly and sincerely gather facts about an issue, study the issue, and to do what is right. Councilmember Kirk said that she had a lot of energy to give Salt Lake City and believed that Salt Lake had a good future. Mayor DePaulis said that during the campaign he tried to develop clear strategies and set goals in order to deal with the issues facing Salt Lake City. He believed that volunteers were important and that people were the resource to solve challenges.

 

Councilmember Fonnesbeck concluded the meeting by saying that this group of people was totally dedicated to Salt Lake City.

 

The ceremony concluded at 12:30 p.m.
